In April 2025 I discovered the UK version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" on YouTube and became hooked on it, watching one or two episodes a day.
Then one day the thought struck me: it would be a real fun project to write my own version! But, as I thought about creating a large bank of suitable questions, my excitement faded. But then another thought: maybe ChatGPT could create the questions? Obviously it would have no trouble creating questions and answers but what about coming up with suitable distractors? And what about creating questions of increasing difficulty? Only one way to find out ... ask!
I'll colour my input like this.

The conversation is over 1,000 lines long so I'll just be sharing enough to give you a flavour of the interchange and how we worked together to achieve a very satisfactory result.
Please create a simple multi-choice general knowledge quiz question with 4 answers to choose from only one of which is correct. Please make the correct answer the first choice.
Which planet is known as the "Red Planet"?
A) Mars
B) Venus
C) Jupiter
D) Saturn
Excellent. I'm planning to create an online quiz as my next project with questions steadily increasing in difficulty. So please repeat my last request but this time provide a very difficult question.
Which ancient Greek mathematician is credited with the earliest known proof of the irrationality of the square root of 2?
A) Hippasus
B) Euclid
C) Pythagoras
D) Archimedes
I'm not ready to start the project yet but I wanted to first check that you would be able to generate the questions for me. I was concerned that you might struggle with reasonable distractors.
You're right to be picky about the distractors — they make or break a good quiz.
