F.A.Q.
Q: Why the tag line "beyond words"?
Peter: Because there are absolutely no words at all anywhere in the game.
My bold attempt to make a truly multi-lingual game!
Q: I'm tired of games that change things on my computer without even asking!
Peter: MAGICAMA is so "pure" that it can be played direct from the CD. The only "thing" it does to your PC is to add a text file to your Program Files area - this file is for keeping track of where you are in the game.
Q: Where are the instructions?
Peter: There are NO instructions. Half the fun (I hope!) is working out what is required in each task. If you get stuck, I'm always there at the bottom of the screen to give a helping hand. You should realise that I'm not out to baffle you - my main aim is to entertain you and to share some of my favourite ideas with you.
Q: How do you save?
Peter: You don't have to! MAGICAMA will take you straight back to where you were, provided you use the same playing token each time.
Q: How do I know when I've finished?
Peter: MAGICAMA consists of 30 tasks (2 on the Demo). Each task has several levels usually increasing in difficulty. When all levels are completed, the Score Bag is replaced by a Clock at the bottom of the screen. Also the picture in your log will have a gold frame instead of a green one. Clicking on the Clock will offer you a chance to beat or equal my best time for a further 100 points. From then on no further scoring is possible on that task but, in over half of the tasks, new arrangements are available so you can continue to have fun with your favourite tasks. When all Time Trials are completed, the Finale will play - you won't miss it I assure you. Note that the Demo has its own Finale.
Q: I really need some help on Task No 2, the Colours Game.
Peter: A tile must be placed next to another tile. (The first tile can be placed anywhere.)
It must be the same colour or the next in sequence.
Sequences run from left to right and from top to bottom.
When you reach 9, you can loop back to 1.
Q: How do I know which version of Magicama I'm playing?
Peter: Press X
Q: My Magicama game has stopped opening up new locations after the poker game.
Peter: Click here or here and choose "Run".
This will patch your Magicama to version 3.11 which should fix the problem for you immediately.
If you are already using version 3.11 (check by pressing X while playing) then please read the next FAQ.
Of course, this patch won't help if you're playing direct from the CD - if this is the case, please e-mail me.
Q: My Magicama game has stopped opening up new locations after the poker game. I am using version 3.11
Peter: Please check your log book carefully.
One player noted that there was no box around Task number 12 (the blue squares).
Complete this task at level one and you should now be able to advance past the Poker Game.
Please e-mail me if you're still stuck.
Q: I'm finding it difficult to get very far with the Billiards task - can you help?
Peter: Click here or here and choose "Run".
This will patch your Magicama to version 3.11 which stops the score being reset to zero each time you fail.
Of course, this patch won't help if you're playing direct from the CD.
Q: The time trial in Sudoku is too demanding at 15 minutes - can it be lengthened?
Peter: Click here or here and choose "Run".
This will patch your Magicama to version 3.11 which increases the time to 45 minutes..
Of course, this patch won't help if you're playing direct from the CD.
Q: How can I get more help if I need it?
Peter: The Mulawa Dreaming Forum is a good place or you can e-mail me direct.
